Argos engages Playtime PR for toys activity

Home Retail Group has hired specialist toy sector PR agency, Playtime PR, to handle campaigns relating to Argos’ toy offering in 2016. This includes activity relating to the retailer’s own toy brand, Chad Valley.

“As the UK’s biggest toy retailer by sales value, it was vital for us to have an agency on board with a specialist understanding of this incredibly important market, to assist in maintaining this position for Argos going forward,” comments Vikki Kirby, Head of Communications, Home Retail Group. “We were impressed by Playtime’s knowledge of the industry and the creative way in which they gain cut-through for their clients in a fairly noisy media landscape. Chad Valley is a multi-million pound toy brand with over 400 products in the range – working hand-in-hand with our in-house PR team and broadcast agency, Markettiers, the team at Playtime has helped shape a truly exciting activation for the brand.”

Playtime PR’s Managing Director, Lesley Singleton, adds, “As an agency devoted wholeheartedly to the world of toys and play, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the UK’s biggest toy retailer. We’re looking forward to delivering a really impactful campaign for Chad Valley and to working with the in-house team on various toy-related spikes throughout the year.”

Playtime picked by Worlds Apart to launch SelfieMic

Toy company Worlds Apart has selected toys and games PR specialists, Playtime PR, to handle the UK launch of SelfieMic™.

Remarked as one of the most exciting toy reveals at Hong Kong, Nuremberg and New York toy fairs, SelfieMic™ is due to hit toy aisles worldwide from July and is set to be one of the year’s most popular new toys.

Combining innovation, technology and hot trends, SelfieMic™ allows children to create their own music videos from home. With a worldwide patent in application, the product features a ‘selfie stick’ with a working karaoke microphone, ear piece and music app. Children record their own voice or lip sync to their favourite songs and create music videos on their smart phone which they can share with their friends – no camera crew required.

Complementing the heavyweight marketing campaign in place for SelfieMic™ in the UK, Playtime PR’s remit will encompass launch media relations, product placement and influencer outreach targeting both parents and children.

Worlds ApartLogan Stone, Senior Brand Manager at Worlds Apart commented: “The launch of SelfieMic™ this summer is a huge focus for us and we knew we had to invest in a strong PR campaign for 2016. Their toy credentials and expertise, paired with a dynamic proposal and wonderful enthusiasm for the product meant Playtime PR was the clear choice to ensure a successful and exciting UK launch for SelfieMic™.”

Playtime PR’s Managing Director, Lesley Singleton, adds, “When the team first set eyes on the brief, we knew we simply HAD to work on this campaign! SelfieMic™ is innovative, cool and bang on-trend, and we had lots of ideas about how to bring that to life for both key audiences. We’re excited to be working with the team at Worlds Apart who have created something immensely fun and relevant – we can’t wait to get cracking, and we’re confident our results will help cement SelfieMic™’s position as one of 2016’s top-selling toys.”
